2024-2025 Catalog
Since 1920, student learning at Vanguard University has been grounded in our mission: to pursue knowledge, cultivate character, deepen faith, and equip each student for a Spirit-empowered life of Christ-centered leadership and service.
To accomplish our mission, the educational experience is designed to be rich, diverse, and dynamic. It is characterized by a wide array of diverse programs and degree options in traditional undergraduate, graduate, and professional education. Every degree program is characterized by vibrant faculty-to-student and student-to-student interactions, meaningful engagement with the course content, opportunities to grow in faith, and the application of the learning to contexts including the home, the marketplace, places of worship, organizations of all kinds, the community, and society as a whole.
The student experience at Vanguard is also holistic and delivered within the framework of our university values - Truth, Virtue, and Service. These values encompass what a student comes to know, be, and do as a result of the education received here.
TRUTH: We pursue truth by understanding the Word of God and by knowing Christ, who is Truth; developing critical and creative thinking skills for careful, reasoned, and independent analysis of competing ideas; engaging in scholarship with integrity and excellence; and exploring, participating in, and contributing to our cultural, intellectual, and spiritual heritage.
VIRTUE: We honor God by committing ourselves to the person and model of Jesus Christ; developing personal integrity and character by applying biblical values to our lives; understanding and accepting the responsibilities of living in a free society; transcending the limitations and errors of the prevailing culture; and through a wholeness of vision, choosing and holding a path for a righteous life.
SERVICE: We work to develop our talents to their potential and discern God's purpose for our lives; strengthen the skills necessary for effective communication of ideas and for a productive place in society; prepare students for diverse vocations, graduate programs, and leadership roles; and exercise civic responsibility, respect cultural and individual differences, and care for others.
At Vanguard University these values form the basis for teaching and learning within the context of our Pentecostal heritage and institutional identity. These values are also reflected in scope of curriculum contained within the Academic Catalog. The catalog includes important information related to schedules, policies, program overviews, and courses. I pray that this resource designed to assist you in your academic journey will prove helpful to your effective and timely degree completion and academic success.
