Mission: The mission of the Department of Kinesiology is to prepare students through personalized education in a Christ-centered, Spirit-empowered environment with the knowledge, skills, and ability to enter the professional field, or for further graduate study in kinesiology and allied health programs.
Purpose of the degree:
Kinesiology is an academic discipline which involves the study of physical activity and its impact on health, society, and quality of life. It includes, but is not limited to, such areas of study as exercise physiology, sports management, athletic training and sports medicine, socio-cultural analyses of sports, sport and exercise psychology, fitness leadership, physical education-teacher education, and pre-professional training for physical therapy, occupational therapy, medicine and other health related fields.The program prepares students for careers which involve the study of physical activity as well as prepares students to enter graduate level programs in kinesiology, health, and medical related fields. The program also prepares students for professional certifications from the ACSM, NSCA, and ISSN.
